I’m also going to become one of those people who carries a camera with them at all times so that they can have hilarious and awesome photo logs of what they do. Then you’ll know exactly how all of the hippest in the city are dressed, where they’re going, what they’re drinking and most importantly, how you can join in on all of the fun things we do as members of the Dead End of Western Civilization. Yep, shit’s getting real around here and it’s going to be one hell of a ride.

I swear we just got back from The Savannah. Okay so The Savannah is a bar, but there was this sweet electro-disco-pop band playing there!

An Horse at the Horseshoe. An Horse at the Horseshoe. An Horse at the Horseshoe. I’ll let you ponder that a little longer.

Brisbane’s An Horse, comprised of Kate Cooper of Iron On and Damon Cox of Intercooler, kicks out Tegan & Sara-like jams with a little more rock & roll and a little less whining. Not surprising then that they opened to for the Canuck twins on their last Australian tour. They’ve also opened for Death Cab For Cutie.

An Horse has begun to beat the hard American trail after the release of their debut album Rearrange Beds back in March. Touring with The Appleseed Cast, An Horse made the only Canadian stop on their U.S. tour (I’m not sure if that makes sense, but I’m sticking with it) in Toronto this past Tuesday. Playing all 10 tracks from Rearrange and one cover that I didn’t recognize (allegedly only played in countries of the Commonwealth), the pair were on the ball.

I didn’t bother sticking around for Lawrence, Kansas’ own Indie Rock/Emo/Post Rock/Experimental band, The Appleseed Cast. I did however have quite a nice little conversation with Kate at the merch during the beginning of their set.

I know that I’ve fallen off the face of the earth, but finals and essays are totally demolishing what little spare time I had to begin with. But don’t worry friends. Despite this snowstorm that we are currently having (I wish this were a lie), summer will be here soon and I will be back in Toronto, the city of fodder, updating left, right and centre for your reading pleasure. So for now, pick up a copy of the New York Times (and don’t just read online you cheeky buggers), grab a latte or two and settle in on a patio. P.S. In case you were wondering (and even if you weren’t), that title is the name of the new Metric single. It is pretty sweet, but Gimme Sympathy is the best song on the new album Fantasies, which is infinitely better than Live It Out.

Anyway, things have been crazy around here lately, on the school front in particular (read: 4 term papers due in the next 10 days. I want to die). Also, I am shooting a movie that I wrote next weekend and it is going to be sweet. And I am in the process of house-hunting for somewhat decrepit but totally charming and live-able houses for next year. But I promise that I will get back on the Regular Update bandwagon once school slows down.

In case you were wondering what I want for my birthday (which is on Monday, just so you all know…), that ^^^ wouldn’t be a bad place to start.

If the play on words in the title didn’t make you chuckle (or at least groan with its terrible-ness) I hope this shirt did. It’s ironic on so many levels, I don’t even want to open that can of worms. Instead I’ll leave it to your friends once you buy one of your own, wait 3-5 business days for it to be shipped and finally wear it for the first time. And yes, before you ask, it is printed on American Apparel.
